Background
Craig Higgs has more than 32 years of experience in civil litigation, with more than 50 jury trials. He has 20 years of experience in alternative dispute resolution and has handled hundreds of arbitrations and settlement conferences for both private parties and the San Diego Superior Court.

Mr. Higgs has extensive mediation training from the Advanced Mediation Workshop at Harvard Law School, the San Diego Mediation Center and the American Arbitration Association. He joined Higgs, Fletcher & Mack in 1972 after serving as a prosecutor for the San Diego City Attorney’s Office.

Mr. Higgs has served as a judge pro tem for the Superior Court and has taught alternative dispute seminars for the State Bar of California, San Diego Superior Court, American Inns of Court and the University of San Diego School of Law. Mr. Higgs has served on a variety of law related boards and committees including the California State Bar Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation and the University of San Diego School of Law Board of Visitors. He is a founding member both of the Louis Welsh Chapter of the American Inns of Court and the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program. He is a past president of both the San Diego County Bar Association and the San Diego Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. In 1989, he was named the San Diego County Bar Association’s Legal Professional of the Year. Mr. Higgs has authored numerous articles on mediation, some of which have appeared in publications including the Los Angeles Daily Journal and San Diego Lawyer.

Craig Higgs was profiled in an August 2005 article in the Los Angeles Daily Journal entitled “Tireless Mediator Has Rep For Never Giving Up.” Attorneys interviewed for the article called Higgs “well prepared, tenacious, and very effective.” Ken Davis, the Daily Journal staff writer who wrote the article, said in summary “Craig Higgs is known around town as a mediator who never gives up. He keeps punching away until the parties reach a resolution or every avenue toward a resolution has been exhausted.”
