As a mediator for the last decade, Eleanor Barr has secured a reputation as a leader in settling multi-party, bitterly-contested disputes. She has successfully resolved nearly 1000 cases. Eleanor came to mediation after ten years as a litigator of high-end cases, and combines keen legal analysis with an extraordinary ability to defuse emotionally-driven disputes. In addition to mediating litigated disputes, Eleanor mediates and facilitates in-house disputes within corporations, colleges and governmental organizations.

Background
Eleanor is an Adjunct Professor at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution of Pepperdine Law School, where she teaches mediation.
She began practicing law 18 years ago as a litigator of complex civil cases. Eleanor was a named partner (under her maiden name, Oths) at Denney & Oths where she focused on environmental, business and employment litigation. Prior to that, she was an associate at Glassman & Browning in Beverly Hills where she litigated in the areas of entertainment and First Amendment law.
Eleanor is a Fellow of the International Academy of Mediators (www.iamed.org) and a member of the California Academy of Distinguished Neutrals (www.californianeutrals.org).
She co-chaired the ADR Committee of the State Bar of California, and served on the board of directors of the Southern California Mediation Association. Eleanor serves on a variety of mediation panels, including those with the Los Angeles Superior Court and the California Court of Appeal.
Education/Training
Eleanor received a J.D. from Indiana University Law School in Bloomington and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Indiana University. She has received mediation and negotiation training from many institutions including Harvard Univsersity School of Law, the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine Law School, U.C.L.A., Los Angeles County Bar, Center for Conflict Resolution, the California Court of Appeal, and Concur.
Fees
Eleanor's hourly fee is $400.
