Mr. McCauley is a full-time Mediator and Arbitrator, and an Adjunct Professor (Pepperdine Law School, Loyola Law School, UMKC Law School). He came to this profession more than 10 years ago from a background as a Harvard Law educated, AV rated, "Big Firm" trial and appellate advocate, handling complex, and sometimes precedent-making, commercial, employment, and real property matters including class actions. As a neutral, he has a reputation as a "quick study," able to use his broad legal background and his analytic abilities to find simplicity and bring conceptual organization to seemingly complicated disputes, and has been entrusted with resolving hundreds of such matters throughout the state, including multiple matters ranging in value from $10 million more than $1 billion. He finds special satisfaction in finding options to resolve cases thought to be intractable. Mr. McCauley has written and spoken extensively on the topic of negotiation dynamics in challenging cases and his efforts have brought recognition from his peers; he is listed as a "Southern California Superlawyer" and is listed in Best Lawyers in America for Alternative Dispute Resolution, as well as in the Martindale-Hubbell Register of Preeminent Lawyers.
