Peter has been a practicing solicitor since 1973 and previously as a partner in a large law firm until 1999. Thereafter he has been practicing as an independent full time professional neutral. He has over 12,000 hours in the role of mediator and facilitator, and been appointed as chair in hundreds of commercial and labour arbitrations. He has been awarded an AV rating in Martindale-Hubbell.

Background
He has served on the roster, either as an arbitrator or mediator or has performed arbitrations or mediations at the request of the Nova Scotia Department of Labour and Environment, the Nova Scotia Department of Justice for Compensation for Survivors of Institutional Abuse, Canadian Transportation Agency, Centre for Sport & Law, Sport Dispute Resolution Center of Canada (SDRCC), Farm Debt Mediation Service (Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada), Public Works & Government Services Canada, and the Registrar of Condominiums Arbitrators List. He serves as Chair of the Sable Offshore Energy Project Commercial Fisheries Gear & Vessel Damage Compensation Board.
Education/Training
He has been a guest lecturer in Dispute Resolution at numerous educational institutions, Bar Admission Courses, Atlantic Trial Lawyers Association, Canadian Defence Lawyers and various Continuing Legal Education Seminars of various professional bodies including the Canadian Bar Association, Nova Scotia Barristers Society and ADR Institute of Canada Inc. He was a member of the Part Time Faculty at Dalhousie Law School lecturing in Dispute Resolution to third year students.
