  For more than 30 years, Mr. Kanter has practiced as a litigator, transactional attorney, mediator and arbitrator, with much experience in diverse areas of commercial, corporate, employment, health care and business law. He has been approved by the AAA to hear cases (including large complex commercial and employment cases) in the areas of Securities, Computer and Internet Law & Technology, Corporation Law, Business and Commercial Law, Franchise Law,Health Law, Mortgage and support services law, Telecommunications Law, and is also certified and provides ADR in the areas of Insurance Law and Entertainment Law. He is a certified panelist for a number of Michigan Courts. He has authored ADR Articles, participated in drafting standardized Court Forms adopted by SCAO, for use in Michigan Courts and has lectured to ADR students, lawyers, judges, and educators in many of these areas.

  Mr. Kanter is a neutral ADR provider, educator, consultant and author, focusing on mediation and arbitration. He has been active working with the American Arbitration Association ("AAA")from the early 1980's to the present, and is currently AAA certified as an active mediator and arbitrator panelist on the regular and large complex Commercial and Employment Law case Panels. He is an approved ADR Panelist for both Mediation and Arbitration, with The American Health Lawyer's Association, the National Arbitration Forum, the State of Michigan, and serves on many other arbitration and mediation panels. He has, and continues to be active in ADR working with the Courts and The State Bar of Michigan. He is a former member of the ADR Council Member,its Executive Committee and the Chairperson (2005-2006)of the State Bar of Michigan's ADR Council.Alan is a frequent trainer, author and lecturer in various facets of ADR for various law schools, the American Arbitration Association and the University of Michigan's Institute For Continuing Legal Education. Mr. Kanter also practices law, focusing on commercial, corporate, health care and regulatory matters, and employment law, both litigation and transactional. He was Chairperson of the Oakland County Circuit Court, Case Evaluation Committee, and is currently a member of it's ADR and Circuit Court Committees. Mr. Kanter is frequently called upon to mediate large, complex, multi-party commercial disputes throughout the USA, though most of his ADR practice is conducted in Michigan and the nearby states. He has been included in numerous publications, including "The Best Lawyers In America" in the field of ADR each year from 2005 to the present, Marquis' "Whose Who In American Law" (numerous editions), and other "Whose Who" publications emphasizing his work in the field of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). A Michigan "Super Lawyer" from 2008 to present in the field of ADR. "dbusiness Magazine" (Detroit Business Magazine) selected Alan Kanter as one of the top/best lawyers practicing ADR in the Metropolitan Detroit Area (2006 to the present).
