Distinguished Fellow Susan Hammer wins Award
Susan Hammer received the first-ever Susan Hammer Award for Transformational Leadership from Planned Parenthood Columbia-Willamette (PPCW) in Portland, Oregon on April 23, 2011.
The award was named for her and future recipients also will receive the Susan Hammer Award for Transformational Leadership. Susan Chaired the PPCW Board during a time when the organization grew from 5 to 9 health care centers. She chaired the capital campaign to build a new Planned Parenthood Regional Service Center on Martin Luther King Boulevard in Portland, raising $12.5 million.
PPCW provides health care services to 60,000 women, men and teens each year. 95% of the services are the planned part; 5% are early abortion care. 92% of the patients are low income and for many, PPCW is their only health care provider. PPCW provides comprehensive, medically accurate sex education to over 10,000 young people each year.
