Phillip is one of the top Mediators in the UK. He is a Dispute Resolution Consultant at SJ Berwin and a full time mediator specialising in mediating UK and international commercial disputes. He has over 16 years' experience as a top mediator often in the most complex cases. He is a highly experienced mediator, widely recognised in the UK and Europe and has had extensive involvement with the development of mediation.
In particular he has mediated several leading class actions, multi-party claims and international disputes. Examples of cases mediated include disputes involving a European bank and a ship owner, a dispute between public bodies involving regulatory issues, a claim for £70m arising from defective products being sold across several countries, and a claim concerning offshore insurance arrangements, and breaches of fiduciary duty involving 20 parties.
He has been the Honorary Chairman of ADR Net, a nationwide group of mediators, since 1995, and an accredited mediator with ADR Group. He is a member of the Court of Appeal Mediation Panel, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and a member of CMAP Paris and the ICC Mediation Panel. He is a member of the Executive Advisory Board of CPR. He has been instrumental in the creation of Court annexed schemes in the UK. He has led mediation training courses in the UK and in several European Countries. He has been the mediator of the final round of the ICC International Law School mediation competition in Paris since its creation and he regularly addresses conferences and seminars on the development of ADR.
