Background
Having handled numerous complex legal matters involving six and seven figures, Steve Mehta has been frequently asked to mediate cases that involve a variety of complex issues. Over the years, Mr. Mehta has taught thousands of attorneys how to better negotiate and achieve better results in mediation. He has been selected as a Southern California Superlawuer in the field of mediation for 2005 and 2006. As an attorney, Steve has practiced on both the plaintiff and defense side and has represented insurance companies, corporations, healthcare providers, and consumers in a variety of legal areas including elder abuse litigation, medical malpractice, major personal injury, employment law and insurance bad faith. As a trial attorney, opponents describe him as fair, well prepared, and a tenacious and formidable opponent. In mediation, he utilizes those skills along with his ability to distinguish between important and trivial issues. Education/Training
Steven G. Mehta was born in London, England. He attended college at California State University, Northridge where he obtained his bachelor of Arts in Speech Communications and graduated magna cum laude. He obtained his J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law where he was awarded the honor of graduating with the Order of the Coif. Thereafter, he practiced with Adams, Duque & Hazeltine, litigation cases involving insurance and major personal injury disputes. Thereafter, Mr. Mehta switched sides where he exclusively represented plaintiffs in catastrophic personal injury, medical malpractice and insurance bad faith matters. Since 1999, Mr. Mehta has mediated over 2000 cases. He has spoken at many lectures regarding mediation skills and training and is a highly sought after lecturer. He has spoken before a variety of local and regional bar associations, the State Bar of California, and the American Bar Association. He has also been asked to speak for private corporations to help provide advanced training to attorneys.
