  Alicia Kuin, B.A., M.A., LL.M., Q.Med.

Alicia Kuin possesses an LL.M. in Alternative Dispute Resolution from Osgoode Hall Law School, a Masters in Conflict Studies and Human Rights from the Netherlands, and certificates in Graduate Legal Studies, Civil Procedure, ADR, Advanced ADR, and Practical Ethics for Working Mediators.

Alicia’s international experience includes working with the United Nations on a legal defence team at the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, located in The Hague. She has also worked with a team of legal counsel to the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDF), focusing on human rights and identity-based issues related to the peace negotiations between the NDF and the Government of the Philippines.

With ten years of practice as a conflict resolution educator, she is experienced in designing and teaching negotiation and mediation workshops and training sessions, as well as providing conflict resolution coaching. She has taught at both the under-graduate and graduate levels on the topics of asymmetrical conflict and the roles of power, culture, and identity framing in peace processes.

Alicia is a Director of the ADR Institute of Ontario. She is also the Founder and Chair of the Mediators Beyond Borders Canada regional group. In 2013, she was one of the first participants accepted into the International Academy of Mediators Inaugural Mentorship Program.
