Susan Hammer has more than 25 years experience as a mediator. She graduated from Willamette University College of Law in 1976 and clerked for the Washington State Supreme Court. In 1978 she joined Stoel Rives LLP, a large, multi-state law firm in Portland, Oregon and became a partner in 1984. She practiced as a commercial litigator and as a labor and employment lawyer. She left Stoel Rives LLP in 1998 and established her own practice, focusing on dispute resolution services.Ms. Hammer is on the panel of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals and the American Arbitration Association. She is a Senior Fellow at the Willamette University Center for Dispute Resolution.
Susan Hammer is a leading mediator in the Pacific Northwest. She has been recognized with a Tier 1 ranking in "Best Law Firms" since 2015. She has been recognized in the Best Lawyers in America, 2005 to present, Oregon Super Lawyers, 2006 to present, Who’s Who in Legal Mediation (International) 2015 to present, the Top 25 Oregon Women Lawyers and Best Lawyers "Mediation Lawyer of the Year" in 2012. Susan has mediated a range of commercial disputes, employment claims, insurance matters, professional negligence claims, product liability claims and public policy disputes. She has been a member of the Oregon State Bar Association since 1976 and was a member of the Washington State Bar Association (1977-2010). She is a Distinguished Fellow in the International Academy of Mediators and serves on its Board of Directors. She is a member of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals.
